A 42 year old man was killed on Friday night after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the Sacramento River.
According to the CHP, he was just north of Walnut Grove on River Road when his car went over the embankment and into the river.
The Walnut Grove Fire Department found the car upside down and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have ruled out drugs and alcohol as the cause but are still trying to find what caused the driver to lose control.
Our condolences go out to family and friends.
Coping with Grief after the Loss of a Loved One
There is never an easy time to lose someone we love. Whether it is a parent, spouse, sibling, close family member, or friend. Feelings of confusion, anger, depression, and sadness feel like they may consume us. But with time, these feelings can fade and allow us to celebrate the life of the one who was lost.
Grieving is an important part in coping with loss. There is no proper way or “normal” time to take. Each situation and person are different and unique. It may depend on personality, age, or even your last conversation with the person.
Although it may feel like there is an empty void left by the loss, it’s important not to overlook your basic needs. It may be easy to stop doing things to care for yourself like getting proper rest and eating.
It can be helpful to talk about the loved one, do special things to remember them, or even join a group to meet people who went through a similar experience. There is nothing wrong with accepting feelings, remembering the joy you had with the loved one, and moving on with time.
Single Car Accident Causes
Sometimes it can be difficult to determine what the cause of a single-car crash is. If there are no marks in the road or drugs and alcohol are ruled out, it may take some time to figure out what happened.
While it could be the road conditions such as weather or an animal, there may be other causes due to another’s negligence. This could be something like a manufacturing or design defect in the car that caused the driver to lose control. Or there may be an unsafe design or hazard that should’ve been cleared or fixed in the road.
How a Sacramento Wrongful Death Attorney Can Help
Under California law, certain survivors are allowed to bring a claim for damages when someone was killed by the negligence of another. They may be entitled to financial compensation not only to cover medical bills and funeral expenses, but also future income they may be relied upon, loss of household services, and loss of companionship, among others.
A Sacramento personal injury attorney will immediately investigate the cause of the accident to see if someone else’s negligence was the cause. From there, once negligence is established, they will build a case to seek financial justice for the family.
